On October 18th, the National Bureau of Statistics reported that the national industrial capacity utilization rate for large-scale enterprises in the third quarter of 2024 stands at 75.1%. This marks a decrease of 0.5 percentage points compared to the same period last year but an increase of 0.2 percentage points from the second quarter.
Breaking it down by sector, the capacity utilization rates are as follows for the third quarter of 2024: the mining industry at 74.6%, the manufacturing sector at 75.2%, and the electricity, heat, gas, and water production and supply industries at 74.3%.
Looking at specific industries, the capacity utilization for coal mining and washing is 72.7%, while the food manufacturing industry is at 70.7%. The textile industry sees a utilization rate of 77.9%, and the manufacturing of chemical raw materials and products is at 76.0%. Non-metallic mineral products have a lower rate of 61.7%. In the ferrous metals smelting and processing sector, the utilization rate is 77.4%, and the non-ferrous metal smelting and processing industry is slightly higher at 78.4%. The general equipment manufacturing sector has a utilization rate of 78.7%, followed closely by specialized equipment manufacturing at 75.8%. Meanwhile, the automobile manufacturing industry is at 73.2%, and the electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing sector stands at 75.6%, with the computer, communication, and other electronic equipment manufacturing at 77.9%.
