In a tragic case from Brazil, 24-year-old Viviane Lira Monte recently underwent an extensive series of cosmetic surgeries that have been described as a “marathon” procedure. In just eight hours, she underwent six different surgeries, including breast reduction, liposuction, and buttock enhancement. Sadly, this decision resulted in severe complications, leading to her untimely death following a struggle with alarming symptoms such as vomiting blood, respiratory distress, and choking.
Viviane located her surgeon online and paid approximately $7,330 for the multiple surgical procedures. The initial phase of her surgery involved reducing her breast size and performing liposuction on her abdomen, arms, back, and chin. The fat extracted from these areas was subsequently used for grafting to her buttocks and lips.
Just one day after the surgery, she was discharged from the hospital, but her condition rapidly deteriorated once she returned home, plagued by intense pain and alarming health issues. Her family quickly rushed her to a local hospital, where her situation worsened, resulting in serious infections and severe inflammation. Despite spending over twenty days in intensive care and numerous emergency interventions to save her, she ultimately succumbed to heart failure caused by a severe abdominal infection.
Her husband, Renan Santiago, shared his heartbreak, contending that while the medical staff made significant efforts to stabilize Viviane and even intubated her, they could do little but watch her decline. He claims the surgeon had enticed patients to undergo additional procedures with discounts, only to vanish when complications arose, reappearing just hours before Viviane’s death.
When contacted by the media, the surgeon declined to comment on the incident. Local authorities have since launched an investigation, identifying concerning elements that require further examination.
