On October 14, a press conference and launch event for the key-themed film “Gao Junyu” took place at the Peng Zhen Memorial Hall and the former site of the Taiyuan Branch of the Chinese Communist Party in Shanxi Province.
Throughout the early journey of the Chinese Communist Party, countless individuals emerged as heroes and visionaries. Their names shine like stars, having ignited the flames of revolution and illuminated the path for the Chinese nation, leaving behind a rich tapestry of history and invaluable spiritual heritage. Gao Junyu, a prominent political activist and theorist in the early days of the CCP, stands out as a revolutionary practitioner and advocate.
Born in 1896 in Jingle County, Shanxi, Gao Junyu dedicated his life to the relentless pursuit of truth and profound love for his country and nation. He was one of the early leaders of the Chinese Communist Party and the Communist Youth League, a pioneer of the communist enlightenment movement in Shanxi, and a founder of local party organizations.
The film “Gao Junyu” will center on his life story, portraying his bravery, unwavering faith, and selfless dedication during revolutionary struggles. According to Ma Xiaoming, the film’s executive producer, “Gao Junyu’s story deserves to be recorded and passed down.”
When discussing the motivation behind creating this film, screenwriter and producer Wang Pengxiang expressed his desire for more audiences to understand: “There is a province in China—Shanxi. And there is an outstanding revolutionary pioneer from Shanxi named Gao Junyu.”
A spokesperson from the Taiyuan Longcheng Film Group, the event’s organizer, emphasized that as a state-owned cultural enterprise, the group is committed to promoting economic and social development while also preserving the red bloodline, passing down revolutionary genes, and celebrating the spirit of great revolutions. The initiation of filming for “Gao Junyu” is a concrete step in fulfilling this mission.
They added that the hope is for this film to raise awareness about the glorious deeds of revolutionary pioneer Gao Junyu, inspiring a new generation—especially the youth—with patriotism and a spirit of striving, guiding them to establish a correct worldview, outlook on life, and values, all aimed at the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
The film “Gao Junyu” is expected to be completed by the end of this year, with a scheduled release in 2025.
