Tong Hyun Suh, a New York-based attorney, has been sentenced to ten years in prison for attempting to engage in sexual activities with a minor. In 2022, he connected with a social media account claiming to represent a “14-year-old girl,” unaware that the “girl” was actually an undercover police officer.
According to the indictment, Suh made contact with the undercover agent, using the alias “Megan,” on the social media platform Kik on April 24, 2022. The agent posed as a 14-year-old girl living in Greenwich, Connecticut. Suh, born in 1977, introduced himself as a Korean attorney and expressed his desire to meet “Megan” for sexual purposes.
During their conversations, Suh reportedly stated that he found the age difference “sexy” and expressed a desire for a “young and submissive girl.” He even requested explicit photos from the agent. Suh later indicated his intention to travel to Connecticut for a “hook-up,” employing graphic language to provoke the agent and suggesting they film their own explicit videos. “Megan” provided him with an address, and also requested that he bring a condom, a lollipop, and marijuana.
On May 27, 2022, when Suh arrived at the address given by “Megan,” he was apprehended by local police, who had been waiting for him. Following his arrest, officers discovered marijuana, a lollipop, and six condoms in his belongings. Investigations revealed that Suh had been practicing law in New York for nearly 20 years and owned a law firm in the Bronx.
In 2022, Suh was charged with attempted sexual exploitation of a minor and pleaded guilty on March 19 this year. The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York in White Plains subsequently sentenced him to ten years in prison, followed by ten years of supervised release.
