Empress Michiko of Japan fell down at her residence and sought medical attention for her injuries

In a recent interview, sources from Japan’s Fuji TV revealed concerning news about former Empress Michiko. On October 7, she experienced a fall at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo, resulting in injuries, though the full extent of her injuries is still unclear.

The incident reportedly took place this morning at the Sento Palace, her residence at the Akasaka estate since her abdication. In light of the situation, she was taken to Tokyo University Hospital in the afternoon for more thorough examination. At 89 years old, the former Empress had previously battled COVID-19 in June, managing to recover with only mild symptoms. Notably, former Emperor Akihito was not infected during that time.
