Experts and entrepreneurs from both sides of the Taiwan Strait seek cooperation in the electronic chemicals industry

On October 26, the Cross-Strait (Yichang) Electronic Chemical Industry Cooperation Conference took place in Yichang, Hubei Province, bringing together experts, entrepreneurs, and youth representatives from both sides to foster friendships and explore collaborative opportunities.

The event coincided with the opening of the 18th Hubei-Wuhan Taiwan Week, which spans four days and features a main venue in Wuhan, along with sub-venues in Yichang, Xiangyang, and Huangshi. The week includes 14 activities focused on trade cooperation, grassroots exchanges, and youth interactions.

During the Yichang conference, Tan Bi’en, Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and He Zhaobo, Chief Engineer of Xingshi Group’s electronic chemical division, delivered keynote speeches. A significant signing ceremony followed, with 20 projects officially signed, amounting to a total investment of over 11.7 billion yuan.

Yichang, known as the location of the Three Gorges Project, has long been committed to deepening exchanges in trade, culture, and education. Cultural initiatives celebrating figures like Qu Yuan, Wang Zhaojun, and Guan Yu have flourished, attracting many outstanding Taiwanese enterprises to invest and establish a presence in Yichang.

Ma Zejiang, the Deputy Secretary of the Yichang Municipal Committee and Mayor, expressed that the conference provides a broad platform to enhance economic and trade relations with Taiwan. He encouraged Taiwanese businesspeople to seize this opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Yichang and consider investment in the area.

Hsu Wen-chih, Chief Economic Advisor of the Taiwan General Chamber of Commerce and founder of Global University of Science and Technology, emphasized that the conference will promote greater integration of the electronic chemical industries across the strait, facilitating the integration of upstream and downstream industries and encouraging cross-regional investments. He expressed hope for ongoing exchanges and cooperation between Yichang and Taiwan to contribute to mutual prosperity.

After the conference, attendees toured the Xingshi Group’s Smart Management Center, Hubei Electronic Chemical Zone, Three Gorges Taiwanese Business Industrial Park, Xinqin (Yichang) Electronics Co., Ltd., and Guangzhou Automobile Group’s Yichang branch.
