In an interview with a reporter from China News Service on October 17th, it was reported that statistics from Fuzhou Customs reveal that during the first three quarters of this year, Fujian province’s foreign trade imports and exports reached 1.49 trillion yuan (approximately), marking a 2.7% increase compared to the same period last year. Specifically, exports totaled 912.82 billion yuan, reflecting a 6.7% growth.
Private enterprises have played a significant role in this boost. In the first three quarters, the imports and exports of private enterprises in Fujian reached 885.5 billion yuan, which is a 6.2% increase year-over-year. This figure accounted for 59.6% of the province’s total foreign trade during this period, which is a 2 percentage point increase from the previous year.
Trade with the ASEAN region and the United States has seen robust growth. Fujian’s imports and exports with ASEAN countries reached 329.28 billion yuan, representing a 10.2% year-on-year increase; meanwhile, trade with the U.S. amounted to 205.29 billion yuan, up by 13.2%.
The export of mechanical and electrical products, along with labor-intensive products, has been steadily increasing. In the first three quarters, Fujian exported 394.99 billion yuan in mechanical and electrical products, which is a 5.6% increase and constitutes 43.3% of the province’s total exports in that timeframe. Notable exports included auto parts, flat-panel display modules, lighting fixtures, ships, and household appliances, with values of 14.67 billion, 14.73 billion, 11.62 billion, 10.43 billion, and 9.64 billion yuan respectively, showing year-on-year increases of 14.2%, 20.3%, 8.6%, 98.9%, and 17%. Similarly, labor-intensive products saw exports of 255.86 billion yuan, growing by 4.2% and making up 28% of the total.
