Long March Story|Which troop is the Red Army’s strategic transfer advance team-

In an exclusive interview, we delve into the pivotal moments of the Red Army’s early strategic maneuvers during one of China’s most significant historical events. Intern Zhu Jinru, who meticulously crafted the visuals for our discussion, sheds light on the operations of the Red Sixth Army Corps.

“The departure of the advance team for the strategic relocation occurred two months ahead of the Central Red Army,” Zhu explains. “In August 1934, over 9,700 members of the Sixth Army Corps set off from Hexi and Xinjiangkou in Suichuan, Jiangxi Province. They successfully broke through multiple blockades established by the Nationalist Army and reached Zhaqian Town in Guide County, Chenzhou, Hunan Province. It was here that they pledged to embark on their western expedition, essentially serving as the scouts and pathfinders for the Central Red Army’s Long March.”

Zhu highlights the Sixth Army Corps’ crucial role in supporting the Central Red Army after their departure on the Long March. “Once the Central Red Army began their journey, the Sixth Army Corps launched offensives in western Hunan, drawing the attention of numerous Nationalist forces, which provided significant support to the Central Red Army’s efforts,” Zhu continues. “Eventually, the Second and Sixth Army Corps were consolidated into the Second Front Army.”

This historical account illustrates the strategic importance of the Red Sixth Army Corps in the broader context of the Long March, emphasizing their efforts in reconnaissance and battlefield engagement that shaped the outcome of this revolutionary struggle.
