Both Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong were designated as World Natural Heritage sites in 1992.
Then there’s Zhangjiajie, situated in the northwest of Hunan province. Its uniquely shaped peaks have earned it the title of the original inspiration for traditional Chinese landscape paintings. In 1992, the Wulingyuan area in Zhangjiajie was also inscribed as a World Natural Heritage site.
