In a bizarre incident that left a shoe store owner in Ohio reeling, three intoxicated thieves made off with over 100 shoes—only the right ones. This strange theft has pushed the owner, Amy, to the brink, even causing her to contemplate closing her business for good.
According to the New York Post, the theft occurred around 2 a.m. on October 8 at Sole Bros, located in Cincinnati. Amy shared on Facebook that she was alerted by her surveillance system, which showed three suspects brazenly breaking into her store.
Amy recounted that the thieves not only took more than 100 right-foot shoes but also numerous complete pairs, along with clothing and personal items. She posted video footage on social media, revealing one thief in a red tracksuit taking a swig from what appeared to be an alcoholic beverage before entering the store. This individual casually strolled around as if he were at home, carrying multiple pairs of shoes. Another suspect, dressed in a black hoodie and wearing a mask, limped into the shop, while a third suspect, a woman, stood at the entrance seemingly keeping watch.
After the thieves fled, the store was left in disarray, with shoe boxes scattered everywhere and shelves nearly stripped bare. Amy told local media that although she rushed to the scene, she arrived nearly 20 minutes after the thieves had already escaped.
She estimates the total loss of merchandise and damages to be around $45,000. The Cincinnati police have since shared surveillance footage on social media in hopes of capturing the suspects and have launched an investigation.
Just a year and a half ago, Amy faced financial setbacks when a vehicle crashed into her store, forcing her to find a new location. This latest incident has been a significant blow, leading her to seriously consider closing her doors for good. However, after receiving overwhelming support from the local community, Amy later posted that she would continue operating, committed to providing the best service to her city.
